Beijing Trip Planning
Beijing trip planning should start at applying for a Chinese visa in advance of Beijing travel. Nonetheless, acquiring the standard one-month tourist visa is not difficult. The visa can be applied through the Chinese embassy or consulate closest to your home. You passport must be valid for 6 months from your proposed date of entry and contain 2 blank visa pages when you hand in the visa application.
Then, you may need to decide when to step on trip in Beijing. The weather in Beijing is most pleasant during the spring and fall, and there are fewer people competing for space at the major tourist sites. If possible, do avoid the three long national holidays in China as there are millions of Chinese and hordes of tourists are on the move during that time.
Generally, the sun is strong in the summer months, so be prepared with sun block, sun glasses and a hat for your Beijing day trips. In the winter, you will want to have gloves; a hat and a scarf fro trip to Beijing. It is a good idea to layer, and you will need a good winter coat. A comfortable and sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers will also be good to have if you plan to do a lot of walking in Beijing.
