Located about 40 miles (65 km) north of downtown Beijing, Huanghuacheng Great Wall is less developed than other sections of the wall, and in some places it is heavily damaged. The entire segment, which is nearly 7 miles (11 km), joins with Mutianyu Great Wall in the east and Juyongguan Pass and Badaling Great Wall in the west. Despite the challenge it gives hikers – it has no stone steps or single pathways – this section is becoming increasingly popular.
