Gubeikou Great Wall
Located at the north eastern part of Beijing, Gubeikou Great Wall can be considered as the best preserved great wall system throughout the Great Wall History in China. Gubeikou Great Wall is stretched over 4 kilometers over the mountains. Currently, there are still 143 enemy towers, 14 beacon towers, 16 entrance passes, 3 water great wall passes and 6 city passes remained throughout the winding Gubeikou Great Wall. Among all, the most well known tourist sites would be the Dahualou Beacon Tower which constructed during Northern Qi Dynasty, and Wangjing Tower, Sisiter Tower (Jiemei Lou), Fairy Tower (Xiannv Lou) as well as General Tower (Jiangjun Lou).
The major part of Gubeikou Great Wall is consisted of Northern Qi Great Wall and Ming Great Wall, and including Wohu Mountain, Panlong Mountain, Jinshanling and Simatai great wall section. Gubeikou Great Wall stands an important location between Shanhanguan Pass and Juyongguan Pass. Moreover, it used to be an important gateway connecting Plain of Liaodong and Inner Mongolia to the Mainland China. Throughout the history, the controlling power of Gubeikou Great Wall would directly affect the winner of the battles around the area. For this reason, throughout the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, uncountable wars and battles had been occurred around Gubeikou area. Therefore, the importance of the great wall was clearly shown as well.
